South West Children's Heart Circle

Welcome to the website for the South West Children's Heart Circle. We hope you find the information contained on this site useful.

We will be continuing to add information over the coming months so please let us know if there are additional things you would like to see in the future.

The Heart Circle is a support group trying to help children and their families, before, during and after cardiac surgery in the Bristol Royal Children's Hospital.

The Heart Circle's main priority is to provide support to families of children with heart defects. Some of the ways we offer this support need funding, including the running of a caravan that offers subsidised breaks for families.

We also try to provide funding to the hospitals in the region for equipment that would not normally be available on the NHS, but makes a real difference to children.

A great example of this is the Telemedicine suite based in Bristol. To offer these things we need to raise funds, find out how you can support the Heart Circle. The Heart Circle is run entirely by volunteers.

Independent Reports into Bristol's Children and young People's Cardiac services

Bristol's Children and young People's Cardiac services are expecting a number to Independent Reports and findings about services at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

The Clinical Chair and staff at the hospital have asked that the South West Children's Heart Circle post information on their website and Facebook page to inform families about the services and how to access reports and information that is published. They want to make sure that all parents and carers know where to find the information and support if you have any questions or concerns.

The link will inform you how to contact the hospital and staff and the hospital LIAISE Team.

There is also a telephone helpline to contact between 10am and 4pm Monday to Fridays on 0117 342 7444.

Click here to get all the information.

The SWCHC Helpline number is also available - 0870 125 2307.

This helpline is available evenings and weekends and is there for anyone seeking support from the Charity. This line is manned by volunteers. Just leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

When we receive a call we aim to offer support to the caller.

We are parents of children with heart problems.

Although we are unable to give medical advice we can provide a 'listening ear' and offer support and when necessary signpost you to the relevant Professional at The Royal Bristol Children's Hospital and Cardiac Liasion Team.

You can also contact us on our Facebook page.
